Meet Odin, the Owl, Wonder Weavers!
Odin is the third member of my growing family of tiny forest friends.
Odin loves to read and is a wonderful storyteller. He often tells his friends a yarn or two over afternoon tea.
And if you missed last week’s post about his friend, Brun, the Badger, click the button below.
Odin’s colour scheme
Just like his friends, I needle-felted Odin with roving wool, drawing inspiration from the barn owl.

Barn owls have a beautiful and distinctive colouration. Their facial disk is typically white or pale buff in colour, while their wings, back, and head are a mixture of brown, grey and buff, with small dark markings. Their underparts are white or cream and sometimes, with dark speckles.
I used the bird’s colouration as a guide when selecting wools for Odin.
Making wings and attaching eyes
I wanted Odin to have poseable wings and legs, so, I experimented with using beading eye pins. Previously, I used this pin type for the limbs of Federico and Brun.
In the video below, I demonstrate how I made one of his wings.
Barn owl eyes are large. So, to make Odin’s eyes stand out, I decided to use plastic eye beads. Initially I tried to glue with craft PVA glue and when this failed, I used a tiny amount of superglue.
Our next animal is mouse!
If you’re joining me on this little creature adventure, I’d love you to share your progress. You can leave a comment on this post or write to me.
Have a playful weekend and thank you for reading this post!
Love,
