Meet Bramble, Wonder Weavers!
He is the final member of my family of little woodland animals. Bramble is a quiet and courteous rabbit and also a very good listener. His favourite hiding spot is a basket— as you can see!
Bramble’s colour chart
Just like the other members of my woodland family, Bramble is made with Australian roving wool. I used just two colours this time — white and brown.
Making ears
A rabbit’s ears are one of its most distinctive features. Their long ears serve several main functions: enhancing their hearing and helping regulate their body temperature. I believe that a rabbit’s ear shape, colour and position play a big role in defining its personality.
In the past, I’ve made miniature rabbits with long and straight ears. Originally, I planned to do the same for Bramble’s but as I sculpted the wool, Inspiration whispered to me, ‘Make the ears floppy.’ So, I listened. When I finished, I realised that this little change had a big emotional impact. Bramble seemed sweeter to me, and more introverted.
Over time, I’ve learned that evoking emotion and creating connection are vital to bringing characters to life, and I believe that following your intuition is key to this process. So, the lesson I’m offering here is don’t be afraid to try new things and adapt your original plan!
In the video below, I share how to sculpt and attach the long and triangular ears of a tiny rabbit.
